The Story | My Wedding Ring
When I was growing up, there were few things I’d save if the house were burning down, and one of them for sure was my bible. Ironically, during a house fire two years ago, my bible wasn’t the thing I grabbed. It was my glasses and my phone. With that thought in mind, I’m sure I’d grab my wedding ring but it’s on my actual finger, so saving myself would in turn save the ring…..LOL. But I thought I’d tell you the story today of my precious symbol of love given to me by my husband when he presented himself to me as a candidate for marriage a short 8-ish months ago. (I had to say it dramatically!!)
It began in the Holy Land. Sort of. We were in the Holy Land in Orlando-ish, FL. A turning point was reached and we started praying specifically about marriage. Around that time, he asked what features I liked in rings. The only things I knew for sure was that I loved sapphires and a round shape. After that, the details of white gold, and other details came later, and as a result of his research and creativity.
It would be super fun to connect a bible verse with every single detail of my rings (which is possible), but honestly, the sapphire was the main feature that we both prayed about and God gave us encouragement from the book of Isaiah (from which was also a verse that was the first Word from God we connected through. Isaiah 61:1) So here are a few details about my ring that I hope will encourage you today. 🙂
- Center Stone: Sapphire.
11 “Poor Jerusalem, storm-tossed, and not comforted,
I will set your stones in black mortar,
and lay your foundations in sapphires.
12 I will make your fortifications out of rubies,
your gates out of sparkling stones,
and all your walls out of precious stones.
13 Then all your children will be taught by the Lord,
their prosperity will be great,
14 and you will be established
on a foundation of righteousness.
You will be far from oppression,
you will certainly not be afraid;
you will be far from terror,
it will certainly not come near you.
15 If anyone attacks you,
it is not from Me;
whoever attacks you
will fall before you.
16 Look, I have created the craftsman
who blows on the charcoal fire
and produces a weapon suitable for its task;
and I have created the destroyer to cause havoc.
17 No weapon formed against you will succeed,
and you will refute any accusation
raised against you in court.
This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants,
and their righteousness is from Me.”
This is the Lord’s declaration.
- Filigree underneath the center setting: Filigree was part of the garment God instructed the High Priest to wear when entering the Holy of Holies. It reminds me that we can have communion with God through Jesus anytime, anywhere, any place. Praises! 🙂
- White gold: gold is precious, but I just like white gold, lol.
- We both have milgrain on our bands, and it’s the French word for “thousand grains”. It is a lovely symbol of abundance and prosperity. 🙂
- There are couple of references to the number 13 in there, so that’s fun. Let the Lord minister to someone reading this today through the number 13. 🙂
